"Promoting the Active Participation of Women" - Day 2 & 3

Day II: The 9th of June 2020 marks the second day of GIHR’s first online training session and project on “Promoting Active Participation of Women”, in collaboration with AMAN (Protection and Social Rehabilitation Centre - Qatar).
The session focused on the core human rights treaties and the two covenants in relation to Qatar, particularly the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR).
The participants were encouraged to reflect on the impact of these instruments on the work of AMAN. Furthermore, participants were facilitated to reflect on how to completely align the provisions of said treaties with the national frameworks of AMAN. The second half of the session focused on The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW): its history, its objective, its impact and relevance to Qatar.
Day III: The 10th of June marks the third day of GIHR's training session and project on “Promoting Active Participation of Women”, in collaboration with AMAN (Protection and Social Rehabilitation Centre - Qatar).
Through informative discussions on a range of topics and the participatory methodology, the session allowed the participants to reflect on the work being done at AMAN.
