The second training course organized by the Geneva Institute of Human Rights in cooperation with the National Council of Human Rights in Algeria and the support of the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the preparation and writing of reports was attended by 23 participants, representing a number of governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as political science students from the University of Algiers.

The workshop aimed to build the capacity of Algerian civil society organizations and to develop participants’ knowledge and skills in the preparation and writing of reports in the context of the Universal Periodic Review Mechanism.

The training program included a number of key points, including: the concepts and terminology of human rights, Algeria and basic human rights conventions and protocols; the Human Rights Council; human rights, the universal periodic review mechanism for the protection of human rights: the modus operandi of the Council and the distribution of the mandate, the universal periodic review, information and guidelines and essential for various reports , best practices on national mechanisms on preparedness and drafting reports and follow-up recommendations in the field of human rights, the implementation of human rights indicators to follow up on recommendations, preparation of a national plan for monitoring the implementation of the recommendations Develop a program to continue working on the preparation of the National Action Plan, and concluded a discussion and recommendations.
